Simplifying Ember: plainer words, fewer places to look

Ember has grown a lot of its own words and places. This is the plan to make it simpler, most of all for someone opening it for the first time. Nothing you've written or set up goes away. Plain words for keeping in touch • On a person's page, one question: "Do you want to keep in touch with Jane?" Yes, keep in touch (gentle reminders), or no need: Always close, We met once, or We've drifted, and that's okay. • These replace Tending, Rooted, Seen and Quiet. • Fading becomes "It's been a while", dormant becomes "Out of touch", and a world's decay setting becomes Reminders ("Remind me after 30 days without contact"). A shorter sidebar (Mac and iPad) • Three sections instead of five: Life (Journal, Stories, Tags), People (People, Graph, Nudge) and Look back (Feed, Calendar, Map). • Worlds move to a row of tabs at the top of the People page. A tab opens the world itself, with its color, its pulse, its people and stories. The same row comes to the People tab on iPhone. • Pinned tags become chips at the top of the Journal and Stories, to filter the list. Every tag keeps its own page. Ideas still being weighed • A simpler start: a new person sees writing, mentions, a person's page and the Feed first, and the rest shows up as they use Ember. • People in your journal have no reminders until you choose Keep in touch. • Log a call, a coffee or a message from the person's page. • "We good?" becomes one kind of log on the person's page. • Graph and Nudge appear once they have something to show: about 10 people, or anyone you keep in touch with. Shortcuts • Actions in the Shortcuts app: create an entry, add a person, add a story, open a page.
